Skull and Bones May Not Release For Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch may be an unprecedented success, at least for Nintendo considering the Wii U’s floundering, but some developers are still a little unsure about bringing their games to the hybrid platform. Take Ubisoft Singapore for instance which is working on Skull & Bones, a naval warfare title involving pirates.
The game itself seems pretty epic in scope and Ubisoft has plans to support it for several years. Bringing that world to the Switch may be tough according to creative director Justin Farren while speaking to GameSpot.
“Our world is pretty rich in terms of the world that we’re bringing to life. We haven’t really talked too much about the Switch, but if that becomes a reality then we would maximize the strengths of the Switch.”
It’s not exactly the biggest letdown since so many third party developers have announced their games to be skipping the platform. As such, Ubisoft is still bringing titles like Steep, Rayman Legends and Just Dance 2017 to the Switch so it’s not like the company doesn’t care for it. Still, if Skull & Bones ever released, it would have to be retooled specifically for the platform.
Skull & Bones is currently slated to release in Q3/Q4 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
